Medical use:

Decoction: Here is hard parts of the plants such as
twigs, root, barks, rhizomes, berries and some seeds are gently simmered for
about 30 minutes in water so as to release their properties. Strain before use.
How to use:
- The decoction of the stem, applied externally to inflamed joints gives relief.
- The decoction of the roots taken internally softens and gives relief to inflamed parts and also promote the flow of urine.

- The decoction of the bark taken internally prevents nausea and vomiting, and is used for piles.
- The edible young shoots strengthen and give tone to the stomach and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases.

The stem, root, bark
and young shoots.
Dose:
20 grams for 1 litre of
water. Use 3 cups a day.
Caution:
The young shoots of Bambusa arundinacea, also known as spiny
bamboo, must not be used internally for it contains poison.
