MATUMIZI YA PAMBA (Cotton) KATIKA MIILI YEYTU



MEDICINAL USE: 
  • For the treatment of urinary problems and promoting the flow of urine.
  • Effective in the contraction of the uterus after child birth.
  • Checks excessive bleeding during menstruation.
  • In the case of an inflammation of any mucous membrane, dysentery, diarrhea and also in the inflammation of the small intestine.
  • For hearing wounds and soothing the pains of burns.
HOW TO USE: 
  • The root of the cotton plants is used fresh, in decoction for urinary problems.
  • The leaves are used in infusion against inflammation of any mucous membrane, for dysentery, diarrhea, and also inflammation of the small intestine.
  • The extract of the leaves is good for healing wounds.
  • The application of the crushed leaves soothe the pains of burns. The flowers are also used for the same purpose as the leaves.
  • The infusion of the seeds is recommended during painful menstrual periods.
PARTS USED:
      Roots, leaves and seeds.
DOSE:
Hot infusion: Pour boiling water over the collected herb, steep for 15 minutes and strain. this method is used for flower  and leaves to make a tea of use away. It could also be used for powdered bark, root, seed, or resin and also for bruised nuts,seeds, bark, or buds.
Cold Infusion: Steep a cold water for several hours, and use.
Decoction: Here is hard parts of the plants such as twigs, root, barks, rhizomes, berries and some seeds are gently simmered for about 30 minutes in water so as to release their properties. Strain before use.
Normal Dosage
For Fresh herb or plant twenty grams are used for one liter of water. if a dried herb are used the amount of plant material should ten grams
For Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day
       Children: Aged 10 to 15 years 3 to 4 cups a day
                      Aged 6 to 9 years 2 cups a day
                      Aged 2 to 5 years 1 cups a day
                      1 to 2 years: 1/2 cups a day
                      Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day

MAAJABU YA MTI WA PHYLLANTHUS KATIKA MIILI YETU



MEDICINAL USE: 

  • Promotes the flow of urine.
  • For strengthening and giving tone to the stomach.
  • Promotes menstrual flow.
  • For reducing or eliminating fever.
  • As a mild laxative.
  • Helps in eliminating kidney and gallstones.
  • Relieves kidney colic or acute kidney pains.
  • Checks cystitis or inflammation of the urinary bladder.
  • Checks dropsy or the abnormal accumulation of liquid in the cellular tissue.
  • Helps in prostate problems in men.
  • Uro-genital diseases i.e., problems with the urinary and the reproductive systems.
  • Wonderful remedy for the early stages of jaundice.
  • Indigestion, dysentery and gonorrhea.
  • Diabetes, sores and fevers.


HOW TO USE:

  • The leaves and seeds are used as a decoction for diabetes 
  • The milky of the plant is used externally for offensive sores.
  • The young leaves are used for fevers.
  • For all the other ailments listed under Medicinal use, the dose given below is to be followed.


PARTS USED:
         The whole plant.

DOSE:
          Use 10 grams of the plant material for 1 liter of water. Usen2 or 3 cups a day.

MAAJA YAPATIKANAYO KATIKA MTI WA (POMEGRANATE)




MEDICINAL USE: 

  • For expelling tapeworms and other worms from the body.
  • Strengthens and gives tone to the stomach.
  • Dysentery and chronic diarrhea.
  • Conjunctivitis or inflammation of the ye.
  • Fevers, leucorrhea, enlarged spleen, malaria, sore throat and general debility.
  • To lower the body heat.
  • Gastric and asthmatic fever, inflammation of the urinary tract and hemorrhage.
  • Kidney stones.
  • For congestion of the liver, indigestion, inflammation of the colon and problems with the digestive tract.


HOW TO USE: 

  • The juice of the fresh leaves and young fruits is used for dysentery.
  • The rind or peel is used for both dysentery and chronic diarrhea.
  • The juice of the leaves and flowers makes a good ointment for conjunctivitis.
  • The bark of the root and the stem is used most effectively for tapeworm. The decoction is made in a dose of 50grams bark for 1 liter of water. Half a cup is to be taken every 2 hours.
  • For fevers, leucorrhea, enlargement of the spleen, malaria and general debility, the decoction of the bark should be 10 to 15 grams for 1 liter of water. Half a cup is to be taken every 3 hours.
  • The above decoction is also used as a gargle for sore throat.
  • The fruit helps in strengthening and giving tone to the stomach and in lowering the body heat.
  • A cold drink of the ripe fruit is given for gastric and asthmatic fever, inflammation of the urinary tract and hemorrhages.
  • The seeds, made into a paste and mixed with milk, are recommended for kidney stones of expectorant mothers.
  • An infusion of the seeds is used for congestion of the liver, indigestion, inflammation of the colon and problems with the digestive tract.
